Activity Highlights
1. USS Liberty Shipwreck
Explore Bali’s most legendary dive site — the USS Liberty Shipwreck. This historic American cargo ship was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine during World War II and later pushed to the shallow waters of Tulamben by the Mount Agung eruption in 1963. Now lying just 30 meters from the shore and submerged at a depth of around 5 to 30 meters, it offers an exceptional underwater experience. The wreck is covered in vibrant corals and swarmed by marine life such as schools of surgeonfish, bumphead parrotfish, and the formidable great barracuda. The site’s calm currents and excellent visibility make it perfect for both beginner and experienced divers who want to witness a piece of history transformed into a thriving underwater ecosystem.
2. Coral Garden Dive Site
Just a short swim from the shore lies Tulamben’s Coral Garden, a spectacular dive spot showcasing both natural and artificial reefs. This underwater garden is filled with Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs), carefully placed to form beautiful patterns and encourage coral growth. Divers can marvel at a wide variety of hard and soft corals, as well as spot unique marine creatures such as lionfish, nudibranchs, moray eels, and clownfish. With its shallow depth and relaxed conditions, Coral Garden is ideal for macro photography and leisurely exploration. It’s a testament to how local efforts blend nature and creativity to preserve Bali’s marine beauty.
